Day 1: Chandigarh to Shimla / Narkanda (8–9 hrs)
We begin our journey from Chandigarh with a scenic drive to Narkanda, a charming hill town nestled amidst pine forests and apple orchards. En route, pass through Shimla and enjoy the gradual transition into the mountains. Overnight stay in Narkanda with views of snow-capped peaks.
Day 2: Narkanda to Sangla / Chitkul (Approx. 180 km / 7–8 hours)
Today we drive deeper into Himachal, entering the spectacular Baspa Valley. Visit the last inhabited village near the Indo-Tibetan border – Chitkul – known for its pristine beauty and traditional Kinnauri culture. Overnight stay in Sangla or Chitkul.
Day 3: Sangla to Kalpa (Approx. 60 km / 3–4 hours)
After a relaxed morning, head to Kalpa, a tranquil village offering magnificent views of the Kinner Kailash range. Explore Kalpa and nearby Roghi village, known for its rustic charm and cliffside roads. Overnight in Kalpa.
Day 4: Kalpa to Nako to Tabo (Approx. 190 km / 7–8 hours)
We begin our ascent into the cold desert region of Spiti. Drive through the dramatic landscapes of Kinnaur to reach Nako, a picturesque village by a sacred lake. After a short stop, continue toward Tabo, home to the over 1,000-year-old Tabo Monastery. Overnight stay in Tabo.
Day 5: Tabo to Dhankar to Kaza (Approx. 80 km / 4–5 hours)
Start the day by exploring Tabo Monastery, then head to Dhankar Monastery, perched on a cliff with awe-inspiring views. Continue to Kaza, the heart of Spiti Valley. Enjoy the evening at leisure, acclimatizing and exploring the quaint town. Overnight stay in Kaza.
Day 6: Kaza – Key Monastery, Kibber, Hikkim, Komic, Langza (Local Sightseeing)
Spend the day exploring the iconic landmarks of Spiti. Visit the majestic Key Monastery, then drive to Kibber – one of the highest inhabited villages. Later, cover the trio of high-altitude villages: Hikkim (with the world’s highest post office), Komic (one of the highest villages connected by a motorable road), and Langza (famous for its fossil park and the giant Buddha statue). Return to Kaza for the night.
Day 7: Kaza to Chandratal Lake (Approx. 100 km / 5–6 hours)
Today’s journey takes us over the rugged Kunzum Pass to the magical crescent-shaped Chandratal Lake. Enjoy the surreal beauty of the lake surrounded by barren mountains and camp overnight under the star-lit sky.
Day 8: Chandratal to Manali (Approx. 120 km / 7–8 hours)
Depart early for Manali via the challenging but spectacular Rohtang route (subject to weather and road conditions). Reach Manali by evening and enjoy a relaxed night in this bustling hill town.
Day 9: Manali to Chandigarh (Approx. 300 km / 8–9 hours)
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Chandigarh. Enjoy the scenic descent through the Kullu Valley and reach Chandigarh by evening. This marks the end of a life-changing journey through the remote and mystical Spiti Valley.
